[Bug 523351] New: /etc/init.d/multipathd doesn't have an rc link and comments inside script are not updated
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=523351 Summary: /etc/init.d/multipathd doesn't have an rc link and comments inside script are not updated Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: roeland@linux-it.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.11) Gecko/2009060200 SUSE/3.0.11-0.1.1 Firefox/3.0.11 to start mutipathd I would have assumed that rcmultipathd wold be the SUSE way. However, Since routed and rcrouted have been replaced (so it seems) by multipathd, the script doesn't reflect it 100% (e.g. still references to routed). Also, the rc link is missing. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: - Expected Results: - scrips shold be edited and rclink created. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Most certainly _NOT_. multipathd is for _storage_ multipathing. routed is for networking. Different story. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Again, routed and multipathd don't have anything in common. Apart from the init script, which has been copied over as a template from routed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=523351 User roeland@linux-it.nl added comment http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=523351#c5 --- Comment #5 from roeland jansen <roeland@linux-it.nl> 2009-07-20 02:39:16 MDT --- Hannes, I'll explain why (I know you know the definitions): Routing is the process of selecting paths in a network along which to send network traffic. Multipath routing is the routing technique of leveraging multiple alternative paths through a network. Both of them can select paths where traffic (network/storage) can be sent to. Does that explain the/my confusion? Anyways, thanks for the work; the rc-link also is easy to fix and makes the work of the systemadmins more consistent (on SUSE). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
