[Bug 811509] New: Ethernet driver for AR8161 is not supported by default
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=811509 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=811509#c0 Summary: Ethernet driver for AR8161 is not supported by default Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.1 Milestone 0 Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Apache AssignedTo: bnc-team-apache@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tschank@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.22 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/25.0.1364.172 Safari/537.22 The ethernet driver is not supported by the current opensuse default kernel(3.7.10-1.1) or below, one has to compile the compat-driver sources with the option alx to get it working. This is a major problem especially if one has Wireless drivers that are not fully supported like BCM4313, (broadcom-wl rpm from Packman works excellent, there is a problem with the b43 package with opensuse). For those who were unlucky like me i had to get internet connection from a second computer and download the sources to install on my notebook. Would be nice if atleast AR8161 compat drivers would be packaged with the next release Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Download Iso image from Opensuse and install in a computer with atheros AR8161 Actual Results: Ethernet is not recognised Expected Results: Recognise and support the AR8161 device fully -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
