Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install 12.1 Milestone 5 to a HP nc6120 portable PC using a wired (cable) ethernet connection 2. Once the M5 installation finishes - try to configure a wifi connection by using the Network Manager icon on the task bar 3. Actual Results: The Wireless tab in Network Manager will greyed out and unavailable One is unable to configure the wifi Expected Results: I should be able to open Network Manager and select the Wireless tab. Then manualy configure and establish a wifi connection. Post installion observations: My Intel wireless 2200BG [Calexico2] card is detected - the related line produced by the lspci command is listed below 02:04.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG [Calexico2] Network Connection (rev 05) The necessary kernel modules were loaded (the related i.e. required modules are listed below) nc6120:~ # lsmod | grep ipw2200 ipw2200 184185 0 libipw 42378 1 ipw2200 cfg80211 155017 2 ipw2200,libipw The wifi card is not seen by the PC - normally a blue sensor light comes on. ##### The solution is ##### 1 - Boot using a live wired (cable)ethernet connection. 2 - Manually install the ipw-firmware-9.8.3.noarch rpm. 3 - Configure the wifi using Network Manager 4 - Wifi works Note: The ipw-firmware-9.8.3.noarch rpm should have been automatically installed during the network card detection and configuration part of the installation -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
