[Bug 235127] New: SaX2 fails to configure dual head correctly on Dell Latitude D820
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235127 Summary: SaX2 fails to configure dual head correctly on Dell Latitude D820 Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: SaX2 AssignedTo: ms@novell.com ReportedBy: reitenbach@rapideye.de QAContact: qa@suse.de This is the same kind of notebook, as described in bug: 235098 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235098 Due to that this bug will not be fixed, the Fn+F8 cannot be used, therefore the clone mode configured via SaX2 should work as configured. The same xorg.conf file as uploaded to bug 235098 makes a 1024x1024 resolution output on the external vga port. The same is true when the external port is configured to 1280x1024. Enabling or disabling 3D in the xorg.conf file does make no difference. I have in /etc/sysconfig/videobios the following statements: VIDEOBIOS_PATCH="yes" VIDEOBIOS_PARAMETERS="3c 1680 1050" the output of 915resolution -l 915resolution -l Intel 800/900 Series VBIOS Hack : version 0.5.2 Chipset: 945GM965G BIOS: TYPE 1 Mode Table Offset: $C0000 + $269 Mode Table Entries: 36 Mode 30 : 640x480, 8 bits/pixel Mode 32 : 800x600, 8 bits/pixel Mode 34 : 1024x768, 8 bits/pixel Mode 38 : 1280x1024, 8 bits/pixel Mode 3a : 1600x1200, 8 bits/pixel Mode 3c : 1680x1050, 8 bits/pixel Mode 41 : 640x480, 16 bits/pixel Mode 43 : 800x600, 16 bits/pixel Mode 45 : 1024x768, 16 bits/pixel Mode 49 : 1280x1024, 16 bits/pixel Mode 4b : 1600x1200, 16 bits/pixel Mode 4d : 1680x1050, 16 bits/pixel Mode 50 : 640x480, 32 bits/pixel Mode 52 : 800x600, 32 bits/pixel Mode 54 : 1024x768, 32 bits/pixel Mode 58 : 1280x1024, 32 bits/pixel Mode 5a : 1600x1200, 32 bits/pixel Mode 5c : 1680x1050, 32 bits/pixel the videobios hack is needed, because without it, I was unable to configure the LCD resolution to 1680x1050. therefore, e.g. a presentation via a projector looks a lot narrower than on the LCD because of the wrong resolution. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I still have a 1024x1024 resolution, where on the left side, about 3 cm (as seen on the lcd display) on the external port. The in the videobios, the configuration 30 is overwritten (640x480 8bit) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

At least I see two issues in this report 1) native internal panel resolution couldn't be configured because of patching bios problem... This should be fixed according to bug 201338 2) you cannot get dual head to work So what exactly are we talking about ? I got validated results that the fix of 201338 works, so I think your problem is different. If you don't mind provide a more specific explanation of your problem and don't mix dual head with single head setup. First and foremost I want to know if it works as single head setup (your laptop without external display). If yes we close this bug as fixed and you can open a new one concerning the dual head problem.
