There is no information printed to any log files. A few other comments: 1. Happens on three systems, including both 32-bit and 64-bit 2. Occasionally the window won't crash and the orf preview will be just a solid gray image, but it crashes most of the time. It appears raw thumbnailing is broken. 3. No crash occurs if there is already an existing preview (say created when image was opened in GIMP using gimp-ufraw. 4. If an orf file is on the desktop, Nautilus will go in to an infinite loop of crashing and restarting. Is there a way to disable just raw file previews in nautilus, as a temporary workaround? So far, I have to disable all previews, which is not acceptable. NOTE: the "raw-thumbnailer" package is not installed. Installing it does not seem to help. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open a folder containing olympus .orf files in Nautilus, that's it. 2. Occasionally won't crash but most of the time will. 3. Actual Results: Nautilus window closes immediately. If orf file is on desktop, Nautilus will enter infinite loop of crash-restart Expected Results: Display the folder properly Please note if there is a way to disable just raw previews in Nautilus as a temporary workaround. Note that every once in a while it doesn't crash but instead generates a malformed thumbnail (a gray box). I am using 11.4 x64 and am seeing this bug - Nautilus crashes when opening a directory containing .orf (Olympus) raw image files. If I run from the terminal I see no errors. Didn't see this issue under Ubuntu. I tested raw-thumbnailer (from the 11.4 repo) on the command line and got errors so I downloaded and complied the latest version (0.2.1). Just tried the patch and Nautilus does not crash any more - which is very cool - I can turn on the preview again in Nuatilus without it crashing all the time.
However - I do not get preview thumbnails for the .ORF files - just an icon. Is this a separate bug?
I also noticed the thumbnails were not generated. IIRC, dolphin in kde doesn't generate thumbnails for large image files. I am not sure if nautilus also has the same behavior. Please file another bug and I'll investigate it further. I tested the demo program, pixbufload, in libopenraw with 0.0.8 and the git head. With libopenraw-0.0.8, pixbufload failed to load the orf file. With the git head, it generated a jpg file from gdk-pixbuf, but the jpg image is distorted. Yes, the thumbnails have a green tint, but they are generated and Nautilus is stable. Nautilus crashes with a segmentation fault when opening/listing with thumbnails, a directory containing an .ORF file. Eye of Gnome also crashes (segmentation fault) when asked to open a .ORF. Am I tested too soon and should I wait for a later build? Thanks for getting this into factory.
