Activating "Command Line Output" reveals tar: This does not look like a tar archive tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors while the archive is created properly. This happens permanently. I can also reproduce the problem using stand-alone file-roller, so nautilus itself seems to be off the hook. Adjusting summary to clarify. If I roll back to tar-1.17, the problem goes away. Apparently file-roller has some issues with newer tar.
