Unfortunately, there are some xhci issues left with certain harddisk cases, that couldn't be solved from the kernel usb hackers. The net effect is sponteaneous device disconnects, two (kind of devices) observed by me: a Toshiba 2,5" mobile harddisk, and a Fantec AluPro U3 external 2,5" case with Asmedia AS2105 controller. The Toshiba HD was from a friend, and couldn't be analysed in depth.

I got such a controller this week end and I am going to investigate.

Oliver, if you like, I can send you the Fantec case as a gift, being limited to USB 2, is has no value for me anyway.
