[Bug 485438] New: eclipse stops working if xulrunner 1.9.1 is installed

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=485438 Summary: eclipse stops working if xulrunner 1.9.1 is installed Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: wolfgang@rosenauer.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I found that Eclipse doesn't start anymore if xulrunner 1.9.1 is installed on a system. (empty window or strange error message) I've opened https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=268651 after I found https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=483832 I guess that as xulrunner 1.9.1 is not yet officially supported there is no immediate need to do anything but as xulrunner 1.9.1 will most likely be the default xulrunner on 11.2 we need to watch what happens on the Eclipse side. Currently they don't specify the correct maxversion for the GRE. If in 11.2 timeframe they still need don't work with 1.9.1 we need to fix the maxversion and keep xulrunner 1.9.0 around for Eclipse's dependencies. Workaround for the time being is starting Eclipse like this: eclipse -vmargs -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I've confirmed that both result in the following processes in the ps list: /bin/bash /usr/share/eclipse/eclipse -vm /usr/lib/jvm/java/bin/java -vmargs -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9 /usr/share/eclipse/eclipse.bin -startup /usr/share/eclipse/./plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.100.v20080509-1800.jar -vm /usr/lib/jvm/java/bin/java -vmargs -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9 That is exactly the same in both cases but still Eclipse behaves differently. Any idea? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
