Is it now? Because, looking at the big picture, the Right Way (tm) is to use NetworkManager and deprecate kinternet. At a later time I tried using NetworkManager, but it wasn't even close to ready. The only thing it could do was to dial, connect and hang up. If the connection got closed by other events, NM would not know. Also, we need some basic information about the modem connections, like: connection time, amount of data transferred etc. A sum of those per month would not hurt either.
