Just to add some more info: While I can change the menu bar font with -xrm (and all other fonts that are handled by FontSet), all X resources for the main buffer font (or status line etc.) are ignored. Strange enough, xemacs always tells me that it is using my selected font: initialized font -*-Courier-medium-r-*-*-*-90-*-*-*-*-*-* initialized metrics ascent 10 descent 4 width 7 height 14 finalizing -*-Courier-medium-r-*-*-*-90-*-*-*-*-*-* Are the fonts maybe overriden by some replacement table? I rememeber that you can define some global settings like "dont anti-alias fonts smaller than xx" in ~/.fonts.conf.
