Once rebuild is triggered, without any changes to source, import of this module in python works as expected. Tested by simply branching wxWidgets, which automatically rebuilds from source. The package installs and import works.

From what I understand, this is due to compiler (gcc5?) mismatch between python and wxWidgets. Whatever the case may be, a simple rebuild fixes the problem.
