[Bug 424075] New: Notebook freezes if closing LID when writing to crypto home
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=424075 Summary: Notebook freezes if closing LID when writing to crypto home Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Mobile Devices AssignedTo: zoz@novell.com ReportedBy: cschneemann@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Hi, my new HP Compaq 6510b freezes if I close the lid when a writing process to the crypted home is active. Freeze means, that Ctrl+Alt+Del does not work, even the notebook button for muting the speaker does not react anymore. I had a look into /var/log/messages, the log just stops, no message in there. The data-source for writing was an network-device, so the ethernet is involved too. I created the crypted home partition during installation and configured it with YaST. For reproduction: create a crypted partition within YaST, download and write a file into this partition (e.g. from a ftp-server) and activate the LID-switch. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Try to find out which module causes these problem. lsmod on init 3, lsmod in init=/bin/bash, then manually load modules on the list, closing/opening lid in between...
It is fixed with echo 1 > /proc/acpi/video/*/DOS like written in the bug this one is a duplicate of. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
