https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=341374 Summary: One click install doesn't pass version number or repository information Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jcborn@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Development If you use the OneClick install tool to install a package from a BS repository which is also available in another registered repository on your local machine in a more recent version the latter will be installed. OneCLick Install does not offer the panel where the user can select which version to use if there are more than one available. I found the problem when I tried to install the BS repository version of mysql-query-browser (to workaround bug 310259). attaching screenshots and the respective .ymp file from OBS. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

On the other hand we discussed in the meeting that it would be nicer to say "install X from repo Y", because this info is already available.
Yes it would be nice to do this, afaik it is not currently possible with pkgbindings. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Quite right. At the moment it will just install the "best" (newest, no vendor change etc) match for the specified named package.
Is there a way to influence the semantics of "best"? specifically: can I give anything from this repo a higher precedence than the same apckage from any other repo, and only within this repo it's then the one with the highest version number? This could also be usefull for driver backport repos, that's why I'm asking. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But this would IMHO be the `cleanest' way to do this, so maybe we have to make a feature request to YaST then. What do the YaST people think? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
