In KDE4, phono-gstreamer backend fully uses gstreamer, thus, totem can't acess gstreamer to play sound. A workaround is installing xine backend of phonon. sudo zypper in phonon-backend-xine then, systemsettings->media->set the backend to xine and select every output to PulseAudio. open Yast->Sound->Other->PulseAudio->enable it. Retart the computer and see if it works for you. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I don't want use PulseAudio in KDE4 - it is annoying uselessly CPU time consuming piece of software from my point of view...:-) I'd like to use functional Totem without PulseAudio (due to well usable totem-browser-plugin for Mozilla browsers). But Totem's sound works only with PulseAudio daemon running - it seems, it is hardcoded in Totem. See https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=596164 for detailed problem info and possible upstream solution. Best reg. MH (In reply to comment #2)
You are using totem in KDE4?
In KDE4, phono-gstreamer backend fully uses gstreamer, thus, totem can't acess gstreamer to play sound.
A workaround is installing xine backend of phonon.
sudo zypper in phonon-backend-xine
then, systemsettings->media->set the backend to xine and select every output to PulseAudio.
open Yast->Sound->Other->PulseAudio->enable it.
Retart the computer and see if it works for you.

Not likely, you have already upgraded to newer versions of openSUSE, which had a lot more bug fixes. We believe that this specific bug has been fixed during one of the release cycles; as such, I close the bug as 'FIXED'. Should you be able to reproduce this issue on a newer openSUSE version, please feel to report it again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
