[Bug 402680] New: umtsmon breaks networkmanager on GNOME
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=402680 Summary: umtsmon breaks networkmanager on GNOME Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: lothar.haeger@steria-mummert.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Installed openSUSE from DVD on my hp compaq 8510p with integrated UMTS card. on the GNOME desktop NetworkManager offered an "Auto GSM Connection" with worked right out of the box to connect to my provider (E-Plus/Germany). Used that conn for a few days, then tried out umtsmon. Issues: - Had to run umtsmon as root, otherwise it would not find the UMTS card ("no UMTS device found..."). Doing so is a bit uncomfortably, but works, dialup still ok, connection working nice! - At one point I tried out umtsmon's "connect" menu item instead of using NM, though. It did some setup-ish things (progressbar suggested so, at least...) and since then, neither umtsmon nor NM can connect anymore ;-( /var/log/messages says the connection gets established but immediately after, pppd reports the modem to disconnect again. I'll attach a log snipplet later, when I have a chance to plug into a wired network again... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Seems like umtsmon sets those if you use it to connect instead of NM. No idea why umtsmon did not work when started as a normal user, but only as root. This works now, too. I ran YOU almost daily, maybe some patch has fixed this...? https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=379592 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
