[Bug 213699] New: NetworkManager: unable to import pcf profile (Cisco VPN)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=213699 Summary: NetworkManager: unable to import pcf profile (Cisco VPN) Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 5 plus Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: felix@derklecks.de QAContact: qa@suse.de I am trying to import an pcf file (attached) into NetworkManager, but it is not working. "NetworkManager makes deployment of VPN easy. It supports Cisco .pcf files, so administrators may simply distribute .pcf files to users. The user is able to double click the .pcf file and NetworkManager will import the correct settings for the VPN." http://www.gnome.org/projects/NetworkManager/admins/ But I just get: "The VPN settings file 'vpnstandard.pcf' does not contain valid data." -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=213699 ------- Comment #1 from felix@derklecks.de 2006-10-19 11:20 MST ------- Created an attachment (id=102060) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=102060&action=view) the concerning profile of my university I deleted the "!enc_GroupPwd" as it is probably not too important for this bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=213699 ------- Comment #2 from felix@derklecks.de 2006-10-20 09:08 MST ------- just wanted to check whether this certain profile might be brocken, but it seems to be more generic. The following pcf-file avaiable for free download cannot be imported either: http://www.hrz.uni-wuppertal.de/zugang/netzanschluss/funklan/p_pics/uni-wtal... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

There is no NTDomain specified in the file and NetworkManager does not like that, see: vaio-gr214mp:/usr/src/packages # grep -n -A 1 '"NTDomain"' BUILD/NetworkManager-vpnc-0.5.0cvs20060202/properties/nm-vpnc.c 509: if ((domain = g_key_file_get_string (keyfile, "main", "NTDomain", NULL)) == NULL) 510- goto error; and the german umlaut seems to make trouble with g_key_file_get_string() rml you did the last commits so I cc: you. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=213699 ------- Comment #4 from felix@derklecks.de 2006-10-21 07:06 MST ------- One thing I forgot: all the excalamtion marks in front of the keyname have to be deleted... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=213699 ------- Comment #5 from felix@derklecks.de 2006-10-21 07:12 MST ------- This is even documented: "Making a Parameter Read Only To make a parameter read-only so that the client user cannot change it within the VPN Client applications, precede the parameter name with an exclamation mark (!). This controls what the user can do within the VPN Client applications only. You cannot prevent someone from editing the global or .pcf file and removing the read-only designator." http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/vpn/client/3_1/admin/vcach2.... These files should at least be read. I do not know how many changes would be required to make the parameters read-only... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=213699 tambet@ximian.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |ASSIGNED ------- Comment #6 from tambet@ximian.com 2006-10-25 02:31 MST ------- Yeah, confirmed. Just one comment, the german umlauts aren't working because NetworkManager wants the .pcf files to contain UTF-8 strings, and you probably just have ISO-8859-? and there's no way to guess exactly which encoding to use. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Tambet, do you want me to test them? Or will they arrive in factory the next days? Where do I get pcf-file.h and pcf-file.c from? But there is still a bug with this specific profile. I may import it and can then click the next button and review the settings. But pressing apply does not do anything. This is caused by the Umlaut which is displayed as "?". But not adding the vpn-connection is certainly not the best way to handle this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
