After ~hour of normal work (web browsing, code writing) Xorg uses really lot of CPU (AMD X2 5600) - 20% and rising. Everything goes slow. For now opened apps are: kadu, amarok, FF, konsole. #uptime:uptime 11:56 working 2 days 2:19, 3 users, avg load: 1,19, 1,07, 1,09 top root 20 0 218m 104m 3936 R 99 5.2 253:36.00 Xorg Any ideas? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start system 2. Keep working 3. Currently I changed my hardware to Phenom X4 and Ati 6850 (with 11.6 fglrx driver) and still got this high CPU usage. Also reinstalled whole system and updated Xorg (X11:XOrg repository). Not at all. For that proprietary applies the same. Unfortunately we can't track any fglrx driver bugs filed against openSUSE in Novell's bugzilla. Please complain directly to ATI. Isn't that strange to You that 2 different configurations (motherboard, cpu, graphic card) produce identical symptoms? On default distro kernel radeon driver does not work with 6850 card. I had to update kernel from Tumbleweed repo. Also I can't force my extrnal LCD TV to work with 1600x900 resolution. Kernel-default 3.0.3, radeon driver. ~ 2h of work: firefox, kopete, a bit Gimp (I though Java might be responsible), disabled Amarok. Installed Kubuntu 11.04 x64, mounted /home, /srv and other partitions, copy configuration. And after couple of hours of constant work I have not noticed any slowdown or higher resource consumption. So I downgraded some of the packages from Updates repository and after that during whole day yesterday and today morning I did not notice any problems (and I did lot of usual work with databases and web programming in netbeans, amarok, kopete, flash movies etc). Yesterday I have updated Xorg from XOrg:X11 and there was some version mismatch (something like radeon driver is number 8 while other packages 10) and I couldn't start X.

I note no delays, windows shows instantly, no more problems with CPU.
