[Bug 682860] New: flash player with kernel 2.6.38 freezes X windows manager when in full screen
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=682860 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=682860#c0 Summary: flash player with kernel 2.6.38 freezes X windows manager when in full screen Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: antonios.pazarlis@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 I'm using opensuse 11.4, with 2.6.38 updated kernel from tumbleweed repository, and when viewing videos on flash player in full-screen mode, X freezes and have to kill x window manager or reboot the system. I got the same problem with firefox as well as with rekonq. As far as i know the same problem persist with both 32bit and the square version of flash plug-in. The solution to this problem was to disable hardware acceleration in the flash player plug-in options. I'm using kde 4.6.0 on a desktop pc with an ati hd 4850 and xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd driver as yast reports (never installed the "close" driver in this version). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.open a website with flash video like youtube 2.select to pass in full-screen video mode Actual Results: X-window freezes, video reproduced freezes too but sound continues to play normally. disabling hardware acceleration from the flash player plug-in options fixes the problem which means that hardware acceleration doesn't work properly with flash player plug-in. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I had this bug in 11.3 also. However I still have some differences. The sound does not play, but just loops. The same was with 11.3. The strange thing is that after X hangs keyboad indicators (NumLock, CapsLock, ScrollLock) are blinking! That is different from 11.3. Disabling hardware acceleration helps me too. How can one debug this problem and find the cause? At least on package level. Is this driver/X/kernel? So that appears to be a regression in radeon DRM module (kernel). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I have intel driver! and radeonhd works actually ok for me. (I checked with the old HD2400 Pro). So this is either a problem in both drivers or of smth else. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

By enabling the hardware acceleration on flashplayer-plugin it worked fine, without freezing X. So i suppose it's a problem related to the open source radeon driver. If all confirm that you are using the radeon driver means that it's not a flashplayer problem and i could change it from kernel to X.Org or x11 3rd party driver issue? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

So this should be surely kernel DRM module. My graphic card is intel. So the problem is in the intel DRM module of the kernel. probably this bug should be split into intel and radeon one. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
