[Bug 527416] New: Bootloader entrances seem to be exchanged.
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=527416 Summary: Bootloader entrances seem to be exchanged. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: 64bit OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@novell.com ReportedBy: monkey9@iae.nl QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Beta-Customer The entrances for normal and failsafe seem to be switched. When i use the normal entrance, i get to big a fonts in the bootlogscreen, and with the failsafe entrance i get the normal fonts and set-up. This is since the start with 11.2. At this time, i even have two of the same entrances in the bootloader screen. But the original existing entrances still exist atm. (which was not the case with M1 and 2.) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I would like to ask you how you did update from Alpha 0 to Milestone 1 via zypper command "zypper dup" or you did classical update: boot DVD or other source of Milestone 1 and start update via yast (similar like yast installation but it is update)? Could you better discribe how you did update please? Next you lost vga during update from Alpha 0 to Milestone 1 and othere update only work with missing vga mode. It seems that /etc/sysconfig/bootloader and there option DEFAULT_VGA="" was set to empty string. Please let me know if you played with /etc/sysconfig/bootloader before starting update to Milestone 1 or if it is only result of update system. Maybe you started yast2 bootloader and there tried to change settings. Please let me know. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I liked to use the factory update module from yast, but that stopped working. Than i downloaded the net.iso for M2. There were troubles with k3b: Not able to burn the iso. (filed bug, problem solved..) I updated via yast2 all pkgs > update when newer version available: sometimes solver problems, suddenly a good moment: update. M3 > M4 Also same method; not without problems, filed bugs about that also. M4 net iso has a broken partioner: not able to read in former partitiontables > not capable to fill in the partitions manualy: system can not mount partitions that have unknown fs. I have sometimes pasted entries into menulst, because my other installs were vanished.., and i sometimes need a system that works ok, to be able to fix a broken one, or to do some other work. /etc/sysconfig/bootloader i never used as i was not aware of the existance of this configfigfile... I once used the bootloader to bring windows7 back in the game. If i remind some details not writen here, i will. (long period of time passed since first used the bootloader config tool in yast2.....) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
