Set the "LogLevel debug" in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf. 2. Stop cupsd. 3. Move /var/log/cups/error_log* to another location (or delete it) in order to avoid having to search through gigantic log files. 4. Start cupsd. 5. Retry the action leading to the problem. 6. Now /var/log/cups/error_log contains many messages that are useful for troubleshooting. Attach /var/log/cups/error_log as mime type text/plain to this bug. Attach /etc/cups/ppd/hp720c.ppd as mime type text/plain to this bug. Test if the same also works for you. When you run it as root you can replace the "cat >/tmp/hp720.prn" with "cat >/dev/lp0" to sent it directly to your printer. Test if it prints simple PostScript via lp -d hp720c /usr/share/doc/packages/ghostscript-library/examples/colorcir.ps and/or echo Hello | a2ps -1 -o- | lp -d hp720c If yes, there is something wrong with the "KDE Print Test". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=256673 ------- Comment #7 from jim.asbille@gmail.com 2007-03-23 03:40 MST ------- You closed this a little fast. I ran the script and got pnm2ppa: command not found. I looked this up and found it was important for my printer HP 720c. I installed Filters in YAST=>Software Management. Now printing works. The installer apparently is not installing the pnm2ppa program which is necessary for older HP printers. NOW it is resolved. You may want to think about adding filters back in since a lot of people still use these printers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

As far as I remember I installed a default openSUSE 10.2 system and I got the filters package installed. I will check it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
