As stated on IRC, gnome-keyring does not get any entropy which could be used as a key. E.g. there are fingerprint reader devices which return a simple 0/1 for correct/wrong fingerprint. In my opinion this is a feature request. I was thrilled to find my fingerprint reader work out of the box, but if it does not also unlock the keyring, it's kind of useless. Hopefully at least 441764 gets addressed before 11.1.
