[Bug 1016128] New: Kernel 4.1.36-41-default does not boot on H700 controller
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1016128 Bug ID: 1016128 Summary: Kernel 4.1.36-41-default does not boot on H700 controller Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: joelb@metal-fabinc.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I recently updated a server running Leap 42.1 from Kernel 4.1.34-33-default to 4.1.36-41-default. After a reboot, the machine does not boot. I see a number of errors like: 2.319625] sd 0:3:50:0: [sddk] Asking for cache data failed 2.319626] sd 0:3:50:0: [sddk] Assuming drive cache: write through 2.320143] sd 0:3:51:0: [sddl] Asking for cache data failed It continues in this pattern, thru most of the alphabet and stopping at sddx Then I get a final message and the server hangs: 7.060056] sd 0:2:0:0: [sda] Assuming drive cache: write through Selecting advanced on my grub menu and choosing the previously installed/working 4.1.34-33-default returns the machine to working order. None of the [sddX] errors show and the only message I get before the text login on the older kernel: 2.172351] megasas: INIT adapter done. Server in question is running a Dell H700 RAID controller and is reported as: 02:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 2108 [Liberator] (rev 05) in lspci I'm wondering if this is somehow related to bug number 1014943 ?
