[Bug 780665] New: Xvnc terminates with an assertion failure when certain applications (e.g firefox) are started
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=780665 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=780665#c0 Summary: Xvnc terminates with an assertion failure when certain applications (e.g firefox) are started Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rspmn@arcor.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=505937) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=505937) Xvnc startup file for demonstrating the problem User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0 Xvnc terminates with the following assertion failure Xvnc: ../../include/privates.h:116: dixGetPrivateAddr: Assertion `key->initialized' failed. when certain applications (e.g firefox or wireshark) are started. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start a Xvnc server using vncserver -nolisten tcp -localhost -geometry 1280x1024 using the attached ~/.vnc/xstartup file 2. Start a VNC client on the VNC display output by vncserver e.g. using vncviewer -nojpeg -fullscreen localhost:1 3. In the xterm window type e.g. wireshark or firefox file:/tmp/ Actual Results: Xvnc crashes and causes vncviewer to terminate. Expected Results: The VNC session should continue after the program has been started and Xvnc should not crash. As a workaround I am currently using the /usr/bin/Xvnc binary from openSUSE 12.1 instead of the openSUSE 12.2 one with which the crashes do not occur. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=780665 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=780665#c1 --- Comment #1 from Michal Srb <msrb@novell.com> 2012-10-09 14:27:35 UTC --- I can't reproduce this with same setup. What version of xorg-x11-Xvnc do you have installed? Is it triggered with other gtk applications as well? (gedit or nautilus for example) It would be very helpful if you could get backtrace or coredump in moment of crash. (For example with gdb attached to the Xvnc process.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

After updating to xorg-x11-Xvnc-7.6_1.12.3-1.9.1.i586 the problem seems to be gone. With this version Xvnc now again works as expected.
