https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=829419 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=829419#c0 Summary: btrfs installation fails, runs out of disk space Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.1 Milestone 3 Platform: i686 OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jon.l.cosby@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:22.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/22.0 I made three attempts to do a clean install of 13.1 M3 i686 (DVD) selecting btrfs as the file system on / and /home. Each time, YaST ran out of disk space ("You are running out of disk space. Do you want to continue? (yes/no)"). I have a 20GB partition for root (/). The prompt came soon after the kernel was installed. If I continue, applications fail to install. ext4 installs with no issues. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install 13.1 M3 (DVD) 2. In partitioner, select btrfs for file system Actual Results: YaST runs out of disk space Expected Results: Full installation -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Please attach y2log files so that we can see which packages were selected and how big exactly the filesystem was. Reassigned to maintainer of yast2-packager who is in charge of space calculation during installation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Could you verify the disk usage from the console ("df -h") when the warning is displayed? Maybe there is really something eating the disk space, could also check "du -h -s /mnt/*" output? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=829419 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=829419#c3 --- Comment #3 from Jon Cosby <jon.l.cosby@gmail.com> 2013-07-16 15:38:46 UTC --- I did a new install this morning to get more information. It went with no hitch. The difference as I could see is that there were seven subvolumes created on the / partition where previously there were at least 12. Everything else was the same. Why would there be so many? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Would need y2log files to see what was going on. Since I assume the former y2log files are gone, I am closing this here. Feel free to reopen if the problem shows up again, but please do not forget to provide y2log files. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
