[Bug 229229] New: Software Update Icon Shows Unavailable Updates
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=229229 Summary: Software Update Icon Shows Unavailable Updates Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: PowerPC OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: kkaempf@novell.com ReportedBy: ammulder@chariotsolutions.com QAContact: kkaempf@novell.com The software update icon in my KDE system tray shows a number of available updates. However, when I try to install them, I get an error that says something like "error: no RPM rpm/ppc/foo.rpm found at mirrors.kernel.org/suse/update/10.2". Indeed, at the time, there were no such RPMs on the HTTP site. I don't think the software update tool should list packages that are not available. Perhaps they are available for x86 but not yet for PPC? Still... (Side note: At the time this happened, the "Online Update" screen in YaST showed no patches available.) P.S. I couldn't get the exact error message because by the time I wrote this up the packages in question had appeared on the mirror site. So it just seems to be a problem that the list available to the update tool was not synchronized with the files actually available on the server. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

If the metadata lists unavailable packages, its a repository error only detectable when actually downloading the package. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=229229 ------- Comment #2 from ammulder@chariotsolutions.com 2007-01-10 08:37 MST ------- OK, but ideally, there would be a process in place to prevent the metadata from being written to the repository before the corresponding packages were available. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
