https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205730 ------- Comment #7 from sndirsch@novell.com 2006-09-19 03:11 MST ------- Does adding Option "NoAccel" to Section Device of /etc/X11/xorg.conf help? Then we would have "only" an acceleration bug (which we might be able to workaround with some XaaNo... option). https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205730 ------- Comment #9 from sndirsch@novell.com 2006-09-19 04:43 MST ------- Ok. That's good. Of course now your desktop is pretty unusable. So now we need to figure out which 2D acceleration feature is broken. You probably need some weeks for testing I'm afraid. :-( Remove the noaccel option and use some of the XaaNo... options documented in the xorg.conf manual page. XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps/XaaNoPixmapCache (together), XaaNoScreenToScreenCopy and XaaNoSolidFillRect are always a good start. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205730 wstephenson@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEEDINFO |ASSIGNED ------- Comment #10 from wstephenson@novell.com 2006-09-20 08:29 MST ------- Created an attachment (id=99205) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=99205&action=view) Test results in xorg.conf file I tested all the XaaNo... options as requested. The only one that helped half way was to combine Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps" Option "XaaNoPixmapCache" Option "XaaNoSolidFillRect" Option "XaaNoSolidHorVertLine" Option "XaaNoScreenToScreenColorExpandFill" Option "XaaNoScreenToScreenCopy" But this is probably almost equivalent to NoAccel. Judging by the way the corruption seems to repeat every few pixels, it reminds me of blitting the wrong memory around back in the Amiga days. Since it seems to affect every option is the problem in a lower level memory copying routine?</layman> -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205730 ------- Comment #11 from sndirsch@novell.com 2006-09-20 08:36 MST ------- Ouch. What you still could check is, if this problem also occurs with lower resolutions (try 1024x768). Maybe the GPU is driven over its limits. If this also doesn't help (of course it doesn't since you want to have 1680x1050), the only options I see is trying the proprietary driver. If this fails as well, I'm pretty sure you should switch the gfx card. Something seem to be broken in the hardware then. Get a GF 6600 instead. This should give you better results. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205730 ------- Comment #12 from wstephenson@novell.com 2006-09-20 09:15 MST ------- Is that a software issue? Same graphics card worked fine driving two displays at the same rez with 10.1 :). I tried the proprietary driver already, but didn't test the XaaNo.. options with it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
