I have added Arvin to CC (your opinion?) and have added the diff of the yast script with testutf8 removed. My comments: I think the part with setting UTF-8 to default and call unicode_start can be removed. As far as I remember this was added long time ago (9.0?) as a workaround because some ncurses version didn't show correct graphics in NON UTF-8. I am not totally sure about the part with fixing the locale settings.
