Unfortunately we have no other means than this license misuse to implement such a warning. Switching to a very weak dependancy (Enhances instead of Supplements) may help in your case, but I'm afraid that it won't be autoselected during installation for the average user any longer either, which makes the package more or less useless in the end. My impression is that whatever I will do it will be wrong for one or the other. OTOH a workaround for anyone affected by this is easy. Taboo the package. ;-) I don't see why this should be marked as a critical bug.
