NO. I'm back with 4.0.4 for now and trying to solve dolphin and k issues there. BUT I did SAY: BOOTING FROM A NEW .KDE4 FOLDER SO THE ISSUE YOU REFER TO: "the crash happens if you have old kde 4.0 applets installed and those get still loaded" Does not apply! Because I have allowed kde4 to create a new .kde4 folder.
