https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=795254 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=795254#c0 Summary: Sandisk U3 Cruzer Micro not mounted when being plugged in Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Ulrich.Windl@rz.uni-regensburg.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 I have a Sandisk "U3 Crizer Micro", a somewhat old 8GB USB stick that features a simulated CD-ROM drive with extra software in addition to the flash disk. In openSUSE 12.2 (GNOME3), when I plug in the stick, only the CD-ROM device is offered for mounting (i.e. is mounted), while the flash disk is not (in the removable device applet). In syslog both devices are found: /dev/sdc is the flash disk, and /dev/sr2 is the simulated CD-ROM. /dev/sdc1 is a VFAT partition. The disk is detected, but not mounted: kernel: [ 6955.015688] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdc] 15704063 512-byte logical blocks: (8.04 GB/7.48 GiB) [...] kernel: [ 6955.025692] sdc: sdc1 In GNOME file manager I seet both, CD-ROM and flash disk, and when I click on the flash disk. it's mounted. THEN the removable media applet also displays the flash disk... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start GNOME, plug in Sandisk U3 Actual Results: CD-ROM part of the device is mounted/displayed Expected Results: flash disk part should also be mounted/displayed Maybe it's abug in the GNOME applet; mayber it's in the base system. The only clue I get from syslog ist this (before the CD-ROM is mounted): kernel: [ 6955.364721] sr 2:0:0:1: GET_EVENT and TUR disagree continuously, suppress GET_EVENT events -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

When I click it in the left tab of the file manager, the device is mounted. I guess people forgot that some users are still working with the command line. It seems overly complicated if you want to copy a file to your stick (e.g. using "cp"). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
