Just tried the latest livecd in virtualbox, and it doesn't happen. So I guess it's specific to when you install from a usb key. There *might* be a relevant fix for this in DeviceKit-disks 007 (although the NEWS entry talks about CD/DVD), or at least for what is in comment #4. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Christoph just noticed it's also asking _before_ installation - even more confusing, but I didn't even notice :)
Christoph: can you give me more details on this? Did this happen on login? Or did you do any specific action? For which partition did this happen? (you can know this by expanding the details in the polkit dialog) (In reply to comment #4)
it still prompts _after_ installation. This will be very confusing to users as they just gave a root password, but that won't work at that prompt.

What i noticed in M8, the root password is required by live installer - /sbin/yast2 live-installer on LiveCD. It's not the same issue than what we had here, it's just gnomesu asking for the password. However, calling "su" itself asks for the password too. So I guess it's expected that gnomesu has the same behavior? No!? Well my friends, you definetely need to watch it, because those amateurs are really pros compared to you!! HAHAHAHA!! YOU'LL SEE LADIES: open*shitty*SUSE STILL SUCKS!!! I recently downloaded the latest M8 b308 -at least the one you let download from your site- and guess what!? the root access password in Live GNOME issue still happens... yeah!! And you know what's even better?? It happens randomly!! Cooool!! - for an horror show :P The error happens on a VMware 2.6 generic Linux machine and on real hardware -a P4 32bits 2.4 with 3 SATA HD all with ext4 partitions and an Intel Core2Duo 32bits 2.8gb with a SATA2 HD and 4 gigs DDR2. I used to press F2 in the boot sequence to see if anything failed at start-up but everything have a glowing green OK at the far right. So, seems openSUSE still stinks as ever :D THANK YOU VERY MUCH NOVELL!! Better I stay with another serious distros, amateurs xD -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
