I tested the complete package update twice (with the updated PackageKit), pkcon finished without any problem. There were some updates through this morning which installed fine. I did however not the following entry in ~/.xsession-errors; Softwareupdateappfailsonfreshstof.gnomeit++ STATS ++ INC 4 4 If i run the updater now (no updates available) I see; ++ STATS ++ INC 24 6 Window manager warning: Buggy client sent a _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW message with a timestamp of 0 for 0x3000003 (Software U) Window manager warning: meta_window_activate called by a pager with a 0 timestamp; the pager needs to be fixed. PackageKit failed in pk-backend-zypp.cpp: backend_get_files_thread() if (package == NULL) { return zypp_backend_finished_error ( backend, PK_ERROR_ENUM_PACKAGE_NOT_FOUND, "couldn't find package"); } It searches the patch name, e.g. openSUSE-2012-538, in the package list and failed. 2. This bug only happened when there is any security update.
