https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=461579 Summary: num lock light is off when KDE starts Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE3 AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: p.treutner@volny.cz QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Num lock light is off after KDE starts, however numeric keypad is enabled and works fine. To turn the num lock LED on, I've got to press the num lock key twice or switch the keyboard layout using KXKB. The option to turn NumLock on when KDE starts in KDE control center is enabled of course. The issue appeared in openSUSE 11 for the first time. Configuration KDE 3.5.10 LANG="cs_CZ.UTF-8" Xorg Option "XkbLayout" "us" primary KXKB keyboard layout: US secondary KXKB layout: CZ -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I attached my KDE 3.5 config, so it should be enough to set czech locale (LANG="cs_CZ.UTF-8") and use my configuration. In some cases the num lock LED stays on when KDE starts, but is turned off after some time (however the numeric keypad still works). The moment when the LED goes out is related to changing window focus. I usually start some applications like Firefox, Thunderbird and Konsole and switch among them, or quit any of the application and then start it again. In no more than 5 minutes LED goes out. I've reproduces the issue on my two computers (Core 2 Duo + P965, Athlon X2 + 780G) with common PS/2 keyboards. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you try if using 'kcminit keyboard' the same way like you used numlockx works too? (It re-initiates the KDE settings, so you'll first need to alter the numlock state or change the option using 'kcmshell keyboard'). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

After removing one keyboard layout, I still had the setting for keyboard layouts active. Switching off keyboard layouts completely solved the problem with the numlock light. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
