If yes, please be careful with following, or even only wait, hopefully I will have access to Windows 7 tomorrow. I can't do any Windows support ;-). If you won't wait, please use bcdedit /export C:\SAVEDBCD to backup your bcd file. You can use bcdedit /import C:\SAVEBCD to restore settings later. Then please try command bcdedit /create /d "test_entry" /application bootsector which instlux uses internally to create boot loader entry. What's the error message? If there isn't any, you can bcdedit /enum to see if the test_entry was really successfully added and then bcdedit /delete identifier to delete the entry you have previously created. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Excelent! Thanks for tracking it down.
Here are the results of in cmd:
As you can see, everything completes "successfully" but there is still no "test_entry".
And there are no error messages.
This seems to me like a bug of bcdedit.
This is 64-bit windows 7 and I had to run cmd as admin.
please give me any input you may have.
I unfortunately know nothing about rights in Windows 7. What I can say surely is, that installer has to run bcdedit and therefore it has to have appropriate credentials. That should imply that you have to run installer as user with admin rights. When bcdedit return no error, I don't know how to check that something went wrong. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

What about adding at least some hint in the installer that the program has to be run with Admin rights? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc721886%28WS.10%29.aspx is also talking about "bcdedit /set" after the commandline from Comment #5. Do you know how to check on Windows that you have admin rights? While bcdedit ends "successfuly" every time I cannot check that the operation was successful. (In reply to comment #13)

How? I would personally vote for dropping instlux at all. A person who knows what administrator rights are certainly knows also how to reboot and set his/her comp to boot from DVD. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
