The problem is in vmlinux.lsd.S in the assignment jiffies = jiffies_64. This operations is done outside an ELF section and, for an error in binutils, this produces a kernel with jiffies at address zero. Binutils version affected until 2.21.51.0.3, so please upgrade!! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. I had to add a patch manually to the kernel to solve the problem.
