[Bug 858380] New: 13.1: Bluetooth does not work in XFCE
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=858380 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=858380#c0 Summary: 13.1: Bluetooth does not work in XFCE Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: IA64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Xfce AssignedTo: bnc-team-xfce@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: carlos.e.r@opensuse.org QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- The release notes do not say that bluetooth doesn't work in XFCE, they only say that it doesn't work in KDE. So it should work. But it does not. In 13.1, I see this in the log when I connect the usb-bt dongle: <3.6> 2014-01-10 23:44:22 minas-tirith bluetoothd 1764 - - Endpoint registered: sender=:1.222 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSource <3.6> 2014-01-10 23:44:22 minas-tirith bluetoothd 1764 - - Endpoint registered: sender=:1.222 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSink but nothing in the XFCE panel indicates it is working. I have tried two machines, 3 installs. It worked on previous releases on the same hardware. People in the mail list say that it is broken and that I should report it in Bugzilla. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Older releases (until 12.1 IIRC) included gnome-bluetooth in the Xfce pattern but that was removed since it grew a dependency on gnome-control-center which in turn drags in almost all of GNOME. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

For the record, it works fine in 12.3.
You should have warned us about this in the release notes. :-/
That's great but gnome-bluetooth was not in the Xfce pattern in 12.3 either. Have you actually checked whether it works in 13.1? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There, when using xfce and I plug in the usb-bluetooth dongle I just get a new applet in the panel, and it works (when it does). It is the gnome applet. The laptop machine had 11.4 and I have just upgraded it to 13.1. It has the full gnome pattern installed, plus XFCE and parts of others. When I plug in the dongle nothing happens (in xfce). In gnome I do get a Bluetooth entry in the right-top-hand menu (whatever it is called), although it appears not to be able to scan (no error displayed). I have created other Bugzillas about the release notes and text mode Bluetooth failing as well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'm not doing that. It is Bug 828779 in Firefox which does that. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
