It's a LiveCD. Probably it's not possible to specify to start it in runlevel 3. I'm afraid in that case it doesn't make sense to use openSUSE 11.1 if intel driver doesn't work on your 845 graphics hardware. Using vesa driver as suggested disables any 2D/3D acceleration.
