[Bug 212453] New: split a -devel package from libexif
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212453 Summary: split a -devel package from libexif Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 5 Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de QAContact: qa@suse.de libexif is a good candidate for a -devel split because it installs 4MB(!) of doxygenerated HTML. As a dependency of libgphoto2 and beagle, it is installed by default on all desktop systems, so the disk space saving is significant. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212453 ------- Comment #1 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-13 18:55 MST ------- Created an attachment (id=101485) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=101485&action=view) Proposed packaging changes Note: The spec file in the tarball puts the unversioned .so symlink into the base package, this proposal puts it into the -devel package. Not sure what to do, please investigate. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I am doing a split of libgphoto2 first, then libgphoto2-devel can require libexif-devel. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212453 ------- Comment #3 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-24 07:15 MST ------- Feel free to resolve LATER. ;-) There is a way to avoid the BuildRequires changes in 50+ other spec files: Split a -devel package, but put only the API documentation there for now, leave the header files and the .pc file in the main package, and move these into the -devel package after openSUSE 10.2 is out. That would be a little bit "dirty", however. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212453 ------- Comment #4 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-26 13:04 MST ------- Marcus, I just noticed the following: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-commit/2006-10/msg01355.html I assume it has something to do with this report, but: Is that change really correct? - I can't see in which way kipi-plugins should depend on libgphoto2 development files at run-time. In fact, if there are files in libgphoto2-devel that kipi-plugins needs at run-time, these should be in the main package and not in the development package. - The changelog entry does not match the actual change, so I'm asking if there might be something wrong here. Maybe it's just a typo? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212453 ------- Comment #5 from meissner@novell.com 2006-10-26 13:15 MST ------- typo. its the first step, because i can require libexif-devel from libgphoto2-devel later. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212453 ------- Comment #6 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-28 02:34 MST ------- resmgr dropped from BuildRequires of libgphoto2.spec, intentional/OK? http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-commit/2006-10/msg01484.html (I think it was unused anyway, just asking to be sure that no new bugs are introduced with this change) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=212453 ------- Comment #7 from meissner@novell.com 2006-10-28 03:00 MST ------- yes, resmgr was only ever used for serial devices in libgphoto2 ... but it did not reach any acceptance and the support is now deprecated / replaced by ACLs. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
