I'm running on x86-64 hardware with KDE 4.1 RC1 (or whatever's in alpha 1). Once you start one openoffice app, say oowriter, you can't start another. Also, several items on the file menu have no effect (like open), and others (save as, export) make the whole KDE session freeze except for the mouse. All I can do is start a text console and issue reboot. Alpha 1 comes with build 2.99.25-4. I upgraded to 2.99.25-12 from an opensuse repo today, and the same problems occur. I consider this a very serious problem, and if it can be replicated i suggest it be on the list of most annoying bugs. Thanks! Now why? When you don't use OOo's dialogs, does it try to do some dialogs native to the system? If so, then something's not right w/ interfacing w/ kde4. Also, is there a way to make the default, at least for x86-64 systems, use OOo dialogs? Otherwise I don't know how a normal person would realize they need to do this. With me, it helped when I deinstalled the KDE extensions, which would mean the standard OO dialoags. However I am still not able to start more than one OO application (as also described above). Once I start oowriter, then I cannot start any other OO application. Everything has to be opened from within the first session. I have updated to the latest builds (from the openSuSE OpenOffice unstable repository), but still the same effect. I installed then the latest build from the OpenOffice site itself (tried it with build m25, m26, m27 and now m29) and with this installation everything works as it should be. So it seems to be something specific within the openSuSE build. Please let me know if I should add another bug report for the i586 system ?
