up-arrow, up-arrow, e, e, *any keys* No matter which keys you press there will always be viewed the same text ('modeset', I think); backspace/arrows continues to work as backspace/arrow-keys.

You can escape from this error by pressing "c" for command line mode and then entering edit mode (by "e"/"ESC" or something thelike) again.
