This on is dealing with not even as root in yast2 hardware sound works. I looked in /dev/ and no dsp, mixer or audio. Yet lsmod shows it there. To this also no mixer in X seems to work including kmix, gmixer and pavucontrol. IT may even be a dbus headahce. This is a snd-hda-intel module. This problem is on going headache and does stop kde4 sound to not test. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Bring up kde4 and setup Multimedia with speakers. 2. Try "Test" 3. Shut it down and restart X - kde should play a startup music when it starts Actual Results: No Sound after X is up. Likely no mixer Expected Results: A simple ten second music not while kde is up I have in the past corrected the sound to work by setting devs dsp, mixer and audio.
