[Bug 721694] New: [REGRESSION] KDE disables the local screen even if no other is there

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=721694 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=721694#c0 Summary: [REGRESSION] KDE disables the local screen even if no other is there Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: timshel@rocketmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=454115) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=454115) Xorg.0.log User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:7.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0 I am using a Thinkpad X201 with a docking station and are used to disable the LVDS1 while the external is connected. To achieve that I use the KDE "Monitor and Display" settings dialog which I have saved. In 11.4 LVDS is disabled after login if the external screen is connected but not in the opposite case. In 12.1 I can't login with X anymore because I always see a black screen afterwards. Since I am using autlogin the screen turns black shortly after boot. Killing X and log in with KDM is possible since it uses the appropriate resolution but afterwards the screen turns black again. So basically KDE shouldn't use the saved screen configuration if the actual display setting has changed or the resolution doesn't fit. This might also be partly an X/Kernel bug but since KDM works after a ctrl + alt + backspace this is mainly a KDE issue. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Attach an external monitor 2.Disable the laptop display with KDE Display and Monitor 3.Save this configuration 4.Restart your system 5.Unplug your external display during reboot 6.login Actual Results: a black laptop screen Expected Results: An active laptop screen with the default resolution I am using current Factory with all updates applied. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Krandr seems to be broken in general. It also shows a black screen if I change the resolution of the external screen and disable the internal one. Doing the same with xrandr works fine. Is krandr using something different since xrandr normall prevents impossible configurations. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

However openSUSE 12.1 is no longer supported. Therefore I am closing this report.
