[Bug 1000501] Sound card was not configured during installation from DVD
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1000501 http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1000501#c8 --- Comment #8 from Mindaugas Baranauskas <opensuse.lietuviu.kalba@gmail.com> --- executing "modprobe snd-intel8x0" as root did not helped in newly installed oS Leap 42.2 beta3: Firefox, KDE don't produce any sound, Plasma sound widget shows "Dummy output". And KDE multimedia settings dialog showed only one "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo" sound device, that don't produce sound after pressing "Test". But after quick sound card configuration, Firefox (after restarting program) produced sound, and in KDE multimedia setting the sound device is now named as "PulseAudio Sound Server", that works after pressing "Test". Then I removed sound card configuration via YaST, I re-login KDE Plasma session. Firefox no longer produce sound, KDE multimedia settings dialog showed two sound devices: 1) grayed (inactive) "Built-in Audio Analog Stereo"; 2) active "Dummy output". `systemctl status alsasound.service` showed "active (exited)" state. `pulseaudio --check` returned nothing `pulseaudio -k` returned nothing `pulseaudio -D` returned: E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
