[Bug 856844] New: sometimes X doesn't start after wake from suspend to disk
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=856844 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=856844#c0 Summary: sometimes X doesn't start after wake from suspend to disk Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: a.b.deroos@gmail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=572971) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=572971) Hardware information from Yast User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0 Sometimes after I try to wake from suspend to disk, X is not started. After pressing [ctrl]+[alt]+[F4] and logging in I am not able to start X using either "startx" or "gdm3 restart" (or start) (which reports an error (command not found), "/etc/init.d/gdm3 start" does not work either). Removing the X-org-lock and starting X in a new display-session ("startx -- :1") ends up with the same result: a black screen. I will try to update the bug with the error code that X gives. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Suspend to disk ([Alt]+ "Power off"; 2. Make the laptop wake from hibernate. 3. Actual Results: Most of the times the laptop normally resumes, sometimes X fails to start repeatedly, until reboot. Expected Results: X fails to start Laptop is a Dell Studio with three partitions: root, home and Windows 7. Additional information is to be found in the attachment. openSUSE 13.1 with all recent updates installed. No extraordinary things changed in system files; HPlip installed; wireless network connection; adobe Flash installed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Just typing "startx" after [ctrl]+[alt]+[f2] reports this error: -- Hostname: name or service unknown xauth: file /home/user/.serverauth.5358 does not exist xauth: file /home/user/.xauthority.5358 does not exist xauth: file /home/user/.xauthority.5358 does not exist (EE) Fatal server error: (EE) Cannot move old log file "/var/log/Xorg.1.log" to "/var/log/Xorg.1.log.old" (EE) (EE) Please consult [...] (EE) xinit: giving up unable to connect to X server: connection refused server error ------------------ Xinit failed. /usr/bin/Xorg is not setuid, maybe that's the reason? If so either use a display manager (strongly recommended) or adjust /etc/permissions.local -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
