[Bug 1203423] New: Old Hungarian font missing
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1203423 Bug ID: 1203423 Summary: Old Hungarian font missing Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: kov.h.vik@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Since 2017 was developed Old Hungarian keyboard layout in xkeyboard-config project, Linux distros haven't Old Hungarian font at all. The Noto's project alphabet has more mistakes, for example several ligatures' form problem, center aligned capital and small letters, mistakes in ligareture definitions etc... I develope an Old Hungarian font in project github.com/rovasiras/kende-font We are agree with Andrs Tisza, owner of the old-hungarian.oldalunk.hu, in that point that adding syllable-like ligatures (consonant+vowel) is hardly useful, sometimes it appeared in history. The main block already given. It has OTF license. I grant this font: https://github.com/rovasiras/noto-font Thanks! [...] I grant this font:
Sorry, I wrote wrong link.
This link gave me a 404, "Page not found".
Not sure why I got assigned to this bug. ;)
Apart from that, I have some questions (and maybe concerns). Let me address these:
1. What do you expect? Maybe I missed that part, but it's not clear for me. Could you clarify that?
2. Why is the above GH repo NOT accessible? Can it be that your GH repo is private? Having a private repo, but a font released under an open source license just don't work well together. It causes lots of problems, be it for you and your audience: * You exclude potential collaborators. * You don't get any feedback as most people won't know how to contact you. * You miss some cool automation features (although that can be done also with a private repo. However, it can add additional burden.) * People can't see any bugs and how they got fixed. * People can't download different releases and the source code (very useful for packaging). * People can't check which is the current release (or in Git terms, what was the published commit).
3. Where are the consumable formats? Publishing just the source code is not enough. Every font designer publishes their fonts in an format consumable by users. That is mostly OTF, TTF, or WOFF. With all due respect, this is your responsibility. :) (See also point 2 as you can do that automatically in GH.
4. Where is "the project"? Again, having just the source code is nice, but there are still some things missing. Those are not mandatory, but I think it would give a better impression about your work. For example: - purpose and goal of your work - contact information - a changelog of what changed in the font. - a font spec, preferably in PDF. That contains all available glyphs, some example sentences etc. so the reader gets an impression - some additional meta information, like which languages does the font supports, Unicode coverage
Maybe I missed some things, but it looks there there is no project, just a source code. Although I appreciate your efforts, maybe try to fix the above issues first and set up a correct project.
Hope that helps. :)

I would like to publish as a font package on the Open Build Server.
In our openSUSE Wiki we have an article:
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_Fonts
Have you tried that?
cc: Tomas Schraitle Sorry, our English is bad. We can not follow the instructions in page https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_Fonts The projectpage of Roga font is here: https://github.com/rovasiras/roga This is the font that we find useful. Could we ask you to take the necessary steps, which are described on the webpage https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_Fonts ? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I have sent a submit request to M17N:fonts with the two fonts packaged https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/1060543 https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/1060544
They should be accepted into the M17N:fonts devel project relatively soon.
I could not think of a good summary or description for the fonts, but here is what I came up with:
rovasiras-roga-fonts summary: Roga is the ligatureless version of Kende font rovasiras-roga-fonts description: Roga is the ligatureless version of Kende font which are both fonts for the Old Hungarian script.
rovasiras-kende-fonts summary: Kende font is a ligatured font for Old Hungarian rovasiras-kende-fonts description: Kende font is a ligatured font for Old Hungarian
If Viktor Kovcs, Istvn Sos, or anyone else has a better idea for how the fonts could be summarized and described let me know.
"Kende is a font for Old Hungarian standard with ligatures" "Roga is a font for Old Hungarian standard" It would be replaced "standard" word to "scripts" My question is that, it is possible update Kende font later? It is under development. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Certainly, the fonts can be updated by anyone by branching and then submitting a request against https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/M17N:fonts/rovasiras-roga-fonts and https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/M17N:fonts/rovasiras-kende-fonts Here is a short guide that may help: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_Fonts#How_to_Update_an_Existing_F... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
