[Bug 341573] New: Poor forwarding performance on Intel Tionesta board
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=341573 Summary: Poor forwarding performance on Intel Tionesta board Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SLES 10 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bo.rasmussen@tietoenator.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: ataschner@novell.com, marc.ruehrschneck@novell.com Found By: Integration Test We have done some performance test on an Intel Tionesta server of the Cranberry Lake reference design. We are using a prototype NIC from Intel with the Oplin 10Gbit/s controller. We are doing a forwarding test, where we forward traffic in and out of the same Oplin NIC. We use an IXIA traffic tester. The result is as follows: % of 10 GB speed TX RX Packet loss ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1% 70 70 0% 2% 142 142 0% 2,5% 355 355 0% 2,6% 389 340 12,5% 3% 426 310 27,2% 10% 1316517 342 99,97% The NIC is places in port B , which is a 8 lane pci-e port, so that should not be the bottleneck. We are using SLES10SP1 and a Oplin driver from Intel. Do you have any ideas on why we get this pure performence? It could probably be many things, but any suggestions or help will be appreciated.
