Seems you're trying to run application of KDE 4.0 Beta 2 against it but they are not compatible - delete them. Actually you should have received a package dependency conflict when installing what your current setup is now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I installed the release from one click got everything else from that link. I didn't get ANY dependencies problems, and by the way, although the on click feature has improved dramatically the installation process it way behind package managers from Ubuntu/Kubuntu. I say this as a friend. I saw many people moving away from SuSE mostly because they got rude comments when filing bug reports. Sometimes the reports may be wrong , but they are filled out to help you finding problems not to create more. ( I know that they sometimes do, but you need to deal with those too) Moreover, we are not machines, we need to think too, you know, and the fact that I got through without any warnings should give you a hint that something is not quite right with your package management system. Have a nice day and a less rude behaviour. Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think you are missing point #3 (see below) Three things at least you should have understood from the previous comment: 1) I said that the software handling packages has design flaws and has many issues (I am not going to describe them here), one at least you should have understood is that dependencies are often missed and many times packages for 64 bits are missing. 2) The repository quoted above contains beta code, which in my opinion should not have, if what you said about the kdeprint libraries is true. (Or at least I should have been prevented by conflict of dependencies to install those packages not belonging to the final release) 3) Some SuSE devlopers handling comments are rude and instead complaining about bug reporters should fix the code or packages instead, or at least thanking for their time spent to test the code and write bug reports. I don't know how to put it in more plain English, I might try a different language or maybe, better, a different distro. prove it with facts opening new reports, otherwise your comment helps nothing.

Software available in the OBS, is not supported even more when it holds beta code, and it may zillions of bugs.

I invite you to read gazillions of report a day, and loose your time trying to guess what it the real problem user is facing, no real errors messages, vague descriptions..it gets frustrating.. anyway I see nothing rude in the Stefan response. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

My time is as limited as yours, but I will try to give you some examples when I will find them. I noticed that mostly the 64 bits packages have the problems. I use on my laptop the 32 bit platform and it is much better in regards to dependencies. And just to point to a few things which I think are annoying: * when updating packages for each repository a new box is put on screen for each operation. I have about 8 repositories and for checking, updating cache, etc I get about 30-40 pop-ups which are by definition inefficient, not to mention that if you what to do some work they keep showing on top. (K)ubuntu package manager is more elegant and efficient in this regard. One window only (SDI vs. MDI) * Another thing is that often I get dependencies for 32 packages instead for 64, and believe me this happened so often that even you don't want a bug report every time. And the list could go on, but I will come with concrete examples when I will encounter them. I thought that the kde4 reported libraries was one of them, but apparently there is a confusion, at least in my head of where to get the 4.0 release and what it contains.

I understand your frustration with false reporting, you must understand that t reporters may be users only and not developers, but ultimately we all have the goal to help building a better product. http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4/openSUSE_10.3/ ? perhaps I am also tired and as sensitive as the SuSE guys. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

huh ? the dependency solver is almost the same...

This is already fixed, see opensuse_factory.

you mean packages named foo-32bit that you dont have previuoly installed.. ?. like this one https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=352814 ? I urge you to report any issue you find in separate, clear bug reports.
