[Bug 927714] New: Flash and Java gets installed via YaST2 Software Manager, although deselected during installation
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=927714 Bug ID: 927714 Summary: Flash and Java gets installed via YaST2 Software Manager, although deselected during installation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: opensuse.forum@mailinator.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Steps to Reproduce: 1) Install OpenSUSE 13.2 with GNOME as desktop in a VM in VirtualBox. 2) As the software preselection is bloated with useless software, I had to deselect software packages that I do not want to ever be installed on my PC - especially Flash, Java, Cheese, Weather, etc.. (To be honest I would prefer if the installer would propose an absolutely minimal GNOME desktop installation and would ask me what additional software he should install.) Actual Results: When opening YaST2 Software Manager it tries to install the software that I deselected during the installation. Expected Results: 1) The installation should provide a minimal GNOME desktop in addition to the bloated one. This one should only install the minimal system with drivers for existing hardware only, GDM, GNOME Shell and YaST2. That's it - everything else should only be installed if requested specifically during the installation or afterwards via the Software Manager (this includes even "small" or "essential" software like calculator, char map, font viewer, browser, file manager etc.). 2) YaST2 Software Manager should not install software that I deselected during the installation (as zypper seems to be doing). 3) YaST2 Software Manager should only install recommended software if not requested to do so explicitly. 4) Software known to be a security risk due to the being extremely buggy(like Flash or Java), should only be installed on explicit user request and not be included as a dependency in the major patterns. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
