[Bug 809154] New: Laptop external monitor incorrectly configured
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=809154 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=809154#c0 Summary: Laptop external monitor incorrectly configured Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: mludvig@logix.net.nz QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=529531) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=529531) Wrong layout - VGA1 overlaps with LVDS1 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 I occasionally work on my laptop with external monitor positioned _above_ the laptop display and rotated 90° CCW. The external monitor resolution is 1280x1024, or 1024x1280 when rotated. When I connect the monitor I get prompted for configuration and the "Size and Orientation" dialog from "KDE Configure Desktop -> Display and Monitor" app pops up. All good. Now when I set the VGA1 output Position to "Above LVDS1" and leave Orientation at the default "No Rotation" the two monitors are nicely aligned with VGA1 1024px above LVDS1. That's great. However when I change the VGA1 Orientation to "Left 90 degrees" it stays 1024px above LVDS1 instead of moving to 1280px. That leads to an overlap (see the first attachment). The only way out is to manually place VGA1 at Absolute position +0 +0 and LVDS at +0 +1280 - doing that every time I connect the monitor is quite annoying. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: When I set VGA1 "Above LVDS1" and "Rotated Left 90°" I want it to be positioned correctly above LVDS1. In the ideal world the config dialog should remember my settings based on the monitor's serial number and every time I connect this very monitor it should set the layout automatically. I have a different setup at home, at work and often use a projector as well - if KDE could remember that a monitor with a Serial Number xyz should be above LVDS1 and rotated, monitor with S/N abcd is on the right hand side and projector with S/N 1234 I want cloned with the laptop display that would make my life easier. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
