This bug really affects most OpenSUSE installations in a SOHO or anything bigger, so I'd think that SUSE/Novell would consider this bug rather important because that people might be potential SLES customers... That being said, and having a nscd which does not crash is definitely a benefit for anybody, how about releasing a fixed glibc with deepbind in the /opensuse/repositories/* tree? That's why I said optional update in comment #52.
